Bruges-PSG in the Champions League: the Parisians held in check 1-1

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – For the first of their magical trio, Paris Saint-Germain was shaken by Club Bruges and only brought back a draw (1-1) from Belgium, without a goal from Messi or Neymar , nor Mbappé, this Wednesday, September 15 for the entry into the Champions League.

All is not so easy for the Supreme MNM. Against an opponent on fire and in a molten stadium, PSG suffered a lot and did not hold for long the advantage obtained by the man in form, Ander Herrera (15th), already double scorer against Clermont (4-0 ), Saturday.

Hans Vanaken (27th) equalized, and Bruges dominated most of the match against one of the big favorites of the C1, after his royal recruitment this summer.

The MNM disappointed for its first. She only lived for 50 minutes, when her most prominent member, Kylian Mbappé, came out, replaced by Mauro Icardi (51st).

At the end of the first period, the world champion received extensive treatment after being hit in the right ankle by Stanley Nsoki (39th).

Mbappé still had time to give the goal ball to Herrera, after having erased Clinton Mata with one of his devastating hooks and centered for the half-volley of the Spanish scorer.

Encore Herrera

Messi, most often on the right, has sought a lot to combine with other MNM members. He found the crossbar after a good service from Neymar (29th), and the gloves of Simon Mignolet on a breakthrough (70th).

Neymar was the most disappointing of the trio, too often seeking individual action.

In short, PSG was well contained by a Belgian champion who played a superb match.

Brugge could have opened the scoring on a missed check by Leandro Paredes, who threw Charles De Ketelaere towards the goal.

The Argentinian mowed him down and collected a yellow card which could have turned red (12th) … The hot Jan-Breydel stadium was in any case of this opinion.

However, in old hands, the Parisians struck at the heart of the first highlight of the Club. If the MNM trio does not yet have its benchmarks, the Mbappé-Herrera duo is working well. The N.7 had already brought a goal from the Spaniard against Clermont and himself scored a goal for the Auvergne.

But Brugge did not decrease in intensity and obtained a deserved equalizer, signed by the treasury of Flanders, Hans Vanaken, on a cross from the Ukrainian Eduard Sobol.

Decisive Navas

The Club could have taken the advantage without two great saves from Keylor Navas, on a free kick from Vanaken flush with his post (33rd), then to pick up a curled shot from Charles De Ketelaere (39th).

The Costa Rican takes the lead over Gianluigi Donnarumma in the fight for the post of head goalkeeper. The Italian has so far only played the match against Clermont, in a quiet meeting for a goalkeeper.

In the radius of Mauricio Pochettino’s choices, as things were not going at the break for PSG, the coach made two changes, taking out the two most erased players, Georginio Wijnaldum and Paredes, to bring in Julian Draxler and Danilo Pereira (46th).

But the physiognomy has not changed much. Bruges created more chances, by Vanaken (49th) or Noa Lang, who attempted a return (75th).

PSG finished the match better, when Messi played in N.10 behind “Ney” and Icardi, but without being dangerous, like this strike in the clouds of the “Pulga” (79th).

The Bruges public celebrated the draw as a victory. It will be necessary to do better against Manchester City in 15 days at the Parc des Princes. The “Citizens” have scored six times against Leipzig (6-3) …
