This Wednesday the XI ArgOliva International Olive Meeting, the most important olive-growing activity in America whose purpose is to promote one of the productive sectors most important in the province of San Juan and give it visibility. The event will run until the end of September and the opening of the meeting was held with a tasting of regional products.
For the second consecutive year, the coronavirus pandemic prevented the event from taking place in person, so it will be held online again. First thing in the morning, governor Sergio Uñac and the Minister of Production and Economic Development, Andrés Díaz Cano, along with national authorities, were present via streaming to officially open the event.
Then the traditional tasting of the products was carried out, also online through the Zoom and Youtube platform. Journalists and influencers from San Juan participated in the olive and oil tasting, as well as previously registered citizens. Yesterday, the participants received a kit containing two olive oil samples, two olive samples, and tasting glasses.
«The objective of the oil tasting is to make visible the benefits of these products with high nutritional content found in San Juan, to make known about different varieties of oils and olives, and to position the province and Argentina as one of the regions of the highest quality olive production in the world ”, explained from the ArgOliva organization in which the provincial government, the Federal Investment Council (CFI), the Catholic University of Cuyo, the San Juan Olive Chamber and the National Institute participate. of Agricultural Technology (INTA).
In addition, it contained brochures with information on each oil and on how to do the oil and olive tasting, and information on San Juan’s olive companies. As expressed by the Government of Sergio Uñac, even though ArgOliva has been developing for 11 years, the tasting of oils and olives continues to be an attraction of the Cuyo province.
