Aragonès withdraws the flag of Spain in his appearance after Sánchez bending the spine before the senyera

The symbolic weight of the flags has been demonstrated once again this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Generalitat of Catalonia, where the delegations of the Government of Spain and the regional Government have met at the negotiating table agreed upon by the PSOE. with ERC so that the independentistas could ensure the investiture of Pedro Sanchez.

The President of the Spanish Government has been received at the entrance of the Palau de la Generalitat with a single flag, before which he respectfully bowed his head when the detachment of the Honor Guard of the Mossos d’Esquadra presented it to him to begin to the magazine pass. It was the Senyera used as a banner by the police force.

The Spanish flag, absent in the reception, has been present after the meeting between Sánchez and the Catalan president, Pere Aragonès, as well as the one held by both delegations.

The flag of Spain was also present, along with that of Catalonia, at the time of Sánchez’s appearance before prominent journalists in Barcelona to cover the meeting. The Prime Minister spoke behind a lectern with the two flags on his right.

However, before Aragonès appeared before the television cameras to offer his version of the results of the bilateral meeting, an employee of the Generalitat has proceeded to remove the Spanish flag, leaving only the Senyera.

After a meeting of more than two hours, Sánchez has assured that he has verified with the president of the Generalitat that the political positions are very far apart, but aware that it is a problem that will not be solved soon, they have agreed on “working without deadlines ». The main obstacle is the independence demand for self-determination and amnesty that Aragonès has raised again this Wednesday.

For his part, the Catalan president has affirmed that the dialogue table between governments is the instrument to solve what he has called “the political conflict in Catalonia.” Since, like Sánchez, he assumes that it will be a complicated task, he does not set deadlines. However, he has pledged that they will once again have “regular and discreet meetings”.
