The former Minister of Defense of the Nation Agustin Rossi, who lost in the inmates of the Frente de Todos (FDT) in Santa Fe, analyzed the PASO of last Sunday, in which the ruling party ended up suffering a hard fall.
“At the national level, the result surprised me. It seems to me that there may be a number of explanations, but the most important signifier is that Argentine society is not having a good time and that demand for a Peronist government is very strong,” said the former official. from Alberto Fernandez, in an interview with Radio FutuRock.
The list of candidates for national deputy led by Rossi obtained 33.10% of the votes in the internal FDT on Sunday, while the ballot led by Marcelo Lewandowski it prevailed with 66.89%.
Faced with the national scenario, the former defense minister considered that the “main leaders” of the Frente de Todos should be “protected”. “When you lose, the results are assumed by the candidates,” he said, in a self-critical tone. And he called to “strengthen the role of the President.”
Anyway, he considered that the PASO “are the first time”, while the elections of November 14 will be “the second” section of the confrontation.
“I believe that there should not be any change in these two months until the general elections; it seems to me that it would not bring any positive benefit,” he said.
In this context, he clarified that citizens “feel that they are living worse than when our government began”, in 2019. And he warned that the President “is responsible for making a political assessment of what society expresses to him.”
