Undersecretary Paula Daza reports that there are already about a thousand cases of Delta variant in the country

This Tuesday the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza delivered recommendations in the framework of the celebrations of national holidays. It was in this context that the authority referred to the epidemiological situation in the country, highlighting that we currently have between 400 and 500 cases a day and a positivity that borders 1 percent.

However, the authority was emphatic in pointing out that “as we move forward where we have practically the entire country with Preparation and Opening, with many more freedoms, that implies more risk and more responsibility.”

Likewise, Paula Daza indicated that “with respect to the Delta variant, we already have about a thousand cases in Chile in relation to sequencingObviously, more than 60% of the cases are community-based, therefore, we have a Delta variant in all regions of the country ”.

In the same way, the Undersecretary of Public Health reiterated her call for those who have not yet done so to get vaccinated: to diminish these cases ”.

Daza also referred to the situation in the north of the country where, according to the authorities, there is concern about the increase in cases, mainly in Arica and Parinacota and Antofagasta.

“There they have gone to mass test, with a rake operation where we go to the houses and we have found a Delta variant that we know is more contagious. We have taken the measure of immediate transfer of people to a health residence and testing of all close contacts (…) we are probably going to have some of these outbreaks, we hope that they will be controlled and promote vaccination in those places ”, he concluded.
