Everything indicates that this week the Government would announce a package of economic measures in response to the harsh defeat of the ruling party in the PASO last Sunday. And among these announcements, the return of the Emergency Family Income (IFE) is not ruled out, a tool implemented at the beginning of the pandemic to assist people whose income had been cut off, especially because they carried out their activity in informality.
Sources consulted by this newspaper indicated that it is “an idea that is going around”, although at the moment it cannot be confirmed.
Anyway, in the next few hours news could emerge, not only if it will be paid again but also about the possibility that registered workers will also receive it, that is, that they receive their salary “blank”.
This kind of IFE “expanded”, or of greater coverage as indicated by the sources consulted, would be based on “the idea that a worker who charges $ 40,000 also has access even though he has registered work.”
Those $ 40,000 is not necessarily the figure that would be taken in the event that the IFE returns and includes registered workers, but it was taken as an example to illustrate the idea of granting the benefit to those who receive income of the smallest scales.
“It is a debt of the pandemic to accompany the smaller-scale registered workers who were far below in purchasing power,” added a qualified source.
The IFE consisted of the payment of $ 10,000 per month and was received by about 9 million people.
