The Director of Informational Content of RTVE, Esteve Crespo, has opted to take risks in response to current affairs and society’s need for information, to flee from tension, without obsessing over audiences, and do the service demanded by the public.
This is what Crespo said this Tuesday in a meeting with the media, in which has justified the contract of journalists Javier Ruiz and Silvia Intxaurrondo in his desire to build a project that “adds talent.”
In the opinion of the new Director of Contents of the corporation, Ruiz has “a very pedagogical style and it explains very well complicated areas, such as economics. “
Although he has not offered details about the program that Ruiz will present and that he could reconcile “if he wants” with his work on the SER network, he has assured that it will be carried out with RTVE’s own media and has described it as a debate “close, deep analysis to explain the news of the week”, which could be broadcast on Fridays.
After ruling out pressure from the president of RTVE, José Manuel Pérez Tornero, to form a team, he has announced that the news will leave the studio so that their proximity can be felt and has insisted on fleeing the noise that, for example, is generated in Parliament, making a different contribution on “That scuffle or discussion continues.”
“If they fight over something, let’s see what the cause is”, has emphasized the head of RTVE, who does not want the news to be limited to being a mirror of current affairs, but “go to the bottom of the issues.”
He has assured not to have received “any comments” on yesterday’s interview with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who has framed in the intention of RTVE to give voice to “all the opinions of democracy”, and has defended the right of the journalists of the corporation to “ask and cross-examine “what they consider necessary.
In this sense, it has announced that public television has launched a request for an interview with the president of the PP, Pablo Casado, who has not yet been answered.
“Debate, context, analysis and interviews for society to recognize TVE as its own “are the main pillars with which Crespo wants to build the new RTVE news programs to” contribute elements and help to think “.
On his relationship with the RTVE News Council, which has criticized some of their decisions of hiring of personnel, among other issues, the director of RTVE has ensured that he has “an open channel always with them or with anyone who addresses him.”
