Solskjaer explains why he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo

United were defeated by Young Boys in a match they lost in discount.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United coach, assured that Cristiano Ronaldo “never ceases to amaze”, after the Portuguese scored on Tuesday in his return to the Champions League with the ‘Red Devils’.

However, United were defeated by Young Boys in a game they lost in injury time and with ten players, after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off.

“This man never ceases to amaze you. He scored another goal and he should have had a penalty,” Solskjaer said, recalling a play in the second half in which the referee did not award a penalty for United.

“He is an exceptional player, but you have to take care of him and we change him at the right time,” he said about the replacement of Cristiano twenty minutes from the end.

“Both he and Bruno (Fernandes) had run a lot today and Saturday,” added the Norwegian to justify Cristiano’s change.
