A total of 22 people were taken asylum in the province of Santa Fe for being close contacts of three children under the age of 10 with possible contagion with the Delta variant of coronavirus. According to the health sources of that province, everyone involved shared a birthday in a country house in the town of Santo Tomé.
The provincial health secretary, Jorge Prieto, said this Tuesday at a press conference that there is a “high probability of three cases of the Delta variant” in Santo Tomé, based on “a rapid screening test” that allows establishing “the probability of what variant are we facing ”.
The samples were sent for sequencing to “Country Project”, one of the sites that is in charge of confirming this variant and that works in the INTA of the city of Rafaela, and the result will be “in 48 or 72 hours,” said Prieto.
The three individuals under examination are under the age of 10 with a history of travel to the United States. As reported by the official, they entered the country with a negative sample from the PCR analysis and the same result yielded the rapid test carried out at the Ezeiza international airport.
However, Prieto pointed out that “Apparently there is a breach of isolation“, Since” on the 11th the PCR should have been carried out, but the day before they attended a birthday party. “
“We have 22 isolated, there are not from other provinces but from other localities because they have shared a common place,” added the provincial Health Secretary. He also explained that “Each one was notified, and each one declared their contact” and now “they are being followed and analyzed.”
The province of Santa Fe has so far registered ten cases of Delta variant of covid-19, eight in the city of Rosario, one in Santa Fe and another in Santa Tomé, and all already have the corresponding medical discharge.
