Russian Zenit players refused to kneel before the Champions League match

Russian footballers of the St. Petersburg Zenit refused to kneel before the match of the first round of the Champions League against London Chelsea. The broadcast was conducted on the Match TV website.

Legionnaires Douglas Santos, Wendel, Wilmar Barrios, Malcolm, Claudinho and Serdar Azmun took part in the action against racism. Russian players and Ukrainian Yaroslav Rakitskiy lost the actions of their team-mates. The Chelsea footballers knelt in full force.

The match takes place in London at Stamford Bridge stadium. Stanislav Kritsyuk is standing at the gate. Forward Artem Dziuba remained in reserve for the meeting. At the time of publication of the note, the score in the meeting was 0: 0.

Footballers around the world are kneeling in the Black Lives Matter movement. BLM members demand systemic change and believe that the murder of African American George Floyd by a police officer is linked to racist prejudice in society.
