New Apple Watch Series 7, Apple laughs at rumors with the same design and larger screen

The presentation of the new Apple Watch has been the most surprising of the presentation of Apple, not because of its novelties, but because the leaks did not hit a single one.

By all accounts, this year was going to be a big one for Apple’s smartwatch, with a complete redesign. Recall that the Apple Watch has hardly changed since the first generation and that, in fact, the third generation is still sold as a new model. That was about to change, with a new flat-edged design that would follow in the footsteps of the iPhone 12.

None of this has turned out to be true, and it is only our fault if we feel disappointed: Apple has been very clear in its commitment to an evolutionary design and, especially, one that does not require new straps: everyone calm down, you can use your old straps with the Apple Watch Series 7. Sure, that means keeping the same rounded design, although saying that is perhaps too harsh, because the new Watch has more design novelties than the new iPhone 13, for example.

The big news is the bigger screen; Despite keeping the rounded design, Apple has managed to increase its size, to the point that it reaches the edges of the protective glass. It’s funny how Apple has had to go for this solution, when a flat design would have achieved the same thing. But there is no doubt that the new design offers more possibilities, not only because of the new dials that show more data at the same time, but also because of the new designs, which take advantage of the rounded edge to display the numbers of the clock, for example.

The larger screen allows us to do more things on the watch without having to pick up the mobile; such as typing with a full keyboard and replying to messages directly. The apps have been adapted to take advantage of the additional space, with larger buttons and interface elements that are easier on the eye. It is also an always-on screen, 70% brighter when our arm is at rest, allowing us to see what we need to know without having to activate the watch.

It is also el Apple Watch ms resistente so far IP6X certified for dust resistance, in addition to the usual 50 meter water resistance promised by Apple. The front glass has been reinforced to avoid scratches and to protect the large screen against shocks, with a glass that is 50% thicker.

There is no news in terms of health sensors, although we have the same as in the Series 6; And for exercise, we have new bike cycles and e-bike compatibility.

Interestingly, Apple continues to sell the Apple Watch Series 3, along with the Apple Watch SE as low-cost deals, although their price has not dropped. The Apple Watch Series 7 will be available this fall in Spain, at a price to be confirmed ($ 499 in the US).
