The debate with the participation of the leaders of the representatives of 10 parties that are participating in the elections to the local self-government of Georgia took place on Tuesday evening on the First Channel. The following politicians took part in the debates: In the first block of debates, each of the politicians answered the question within a minute – what do they mean for them, the upcoming elections to local governments. For representatives of opposition parties, the upcoming elections will become a kind of referendum and a ground for early parliamentary elections. In turn, “Georgian Dream” is confident in the victory of its candidates, both in Tbilisi and in the regions, and that the upcoming elections will only strengthen their positions. After the greeting, each of the politicians could ask a question to one of the opponents within 30 seconds … The participants in the debate were given two minutes to answer. Then the questioner had another 30 seconds to analyze what he had heard. In the second block of the program, there was a small conflict between Lasha Chkhartishvili and Nana Devdariani. A representative of the Labor Party accused Devdariani of being the chairman of the CEC of Georgia during the reign of Eduard Shevardnadze, she was a supporter of “his regime” and supported the government. In turn, Devdariani noted that accusations of this kind are inappropriate and she is proud of every decision and step she takes. Chkhartishvili’s accusations did not end there. He accused the debate host and Channel One of pro-government politics and that the new building of the broadcaster should not cost the budget 80 million lari (about $ 26 million). Most of the opposition’s questions were addressed to the representative of the Georgian Dream. Already on September 21, Channel One is organizing a debate of candidates for mayor of Tbilisi.

Local elections will take place in the country on October 2.
