"Do we want business as usual or do we really want to solve the housing problem?"

A coordenadora do BE, Catarina Martins, accused PS and PCP of not having responded to the housing crisis in Loures in 20 years, considering that the election of the first block councilor would mean that this problem would be taken seriously.

“There is a new basic housing law and there is the announcement of the millions available from the Recovery and Resilience Program that will also be for housing and the question that will be asked in each municipality, in each parish, in each municipality is: do we want business as usual or we really want to solve the housing problem”, asked Catarina Martins at the first rally during the official campaign period that took place this evening, in Loures.

The BE leader made a direct attack on the council’s socialists and communists, who for the past two decades have been responsible for governing the municipality.

“Here in Loures, let’s be absolutely clear, in the last 20 years neither PS nor PCP have wanted to respond to the housing crisis and prefer to make the glaring problems invisible and it is time to face the problems and solve them”, criticized.

That is why Catarina Martins defends that the election of Fabian Figueiredo, that is, “the election of the first councilor of the Left Block in the municipality of Loures, means that Loures can, for the first time, have a councilor who takes it very seriously the housing problem”.

“We have the law, we have the means, what is needed is this political will”, he defended.

In these local elections of September 26, from the perspective of the Blocist coordinator, there is “capacity to change”.

“There is nothing worse than making local elections a kind of contest for those who talk less about the problems and throw more ads that solve nothing in people’s lives”, condemned.

For Catarina Martins, “problems of decades have instruments to be resolved”, promising determination of the party she leads to carry out “this whole struggle”.

The current executive in Loures, led by Bernardino Soares, is made up of four elected from the CDU (including the president), four from the PS and three from the coalition “Primeiro Loures” (PSD/PPM).

The current president of the municipality, Bernardino Soares (CDU, coalition that integrates the PCP and PEV), the socialist Ricardo Leão (president of the Municipal Assembly of Loures), the social democrat Nélson Batista (president of the Board of Parish of Lousa), by CDS-PP Jorge Santos, Bruno Nunes (Enough), Filomena Francisco (Liberal Initiative), Soraya Ossman (PAN) and João Resa (PCTP-MRPP).
