The Basque Minister of Public Governance and Self-Government, Olatz Garamendi, and the Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodrguez, will meet next Friday in Madrid to discuss pending transfers, including the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) that accumulates almost a year late in their assignment.

This will be the first face-to-face meeting -at 12.00 at the headquarters of the Ministry- between both institutional leaders, at a time when the central Executive needs to seek support to carry out the 2021 Budgets.

The objective of the meeting – according to a statement – will be to resume the transfer calendar after the government remodeling in July, which led to the appointment of Isabel Rodríguez as head of the ministry. From the Basque Government they describe the appointment as “important to promote the pending transfers included in the Statute of Gernika”.

New notice to Snchez

In fact, in the last few days the PNV has been warning Sanchez that its support for the State Accounts is not a fait accompli. The nationalist spokesman in Congress, Aitor Esteban, warned that the blockade in the transfer of the IMV “hinders our will to reach agreements.”

In May, both governments signed the transfer of four matters in the Mixed Transfer Commission held in Bilbao, including Prisons.
