Cabello: "The lack of response from the Canarian Government puts Carnival at risk"

Despite the good disposition that the Government of the Canary Islands transferred to the Santa Cruz City Council to meet and address the celebration of Christmas and Carnival in the capital, almost a week later, as confirmed to DIARIO DE AVISOS by the Party Councilor Alfonso Cabello, no communication has yet taken place. “Here I am still with the phone in hand, waiting for a call that does not arrive,” said the mayor with clear discomfort at this lack of communication.

“What is clear to us is that the lack of response from the Government of the Canary Islands puts the celebration of Christmas and Carnivals at risk.” And it is that, although the Department of Fiestas continues to work for the celebration of the next Carnival, the truth is that, with the decree published by the Canarian Government, it is very complicated that there may be a party in 2022 more similar to 2019 than to 2020, as the area directed by Alfonso Cabello intends.

This same week the mayor of Fiestas has continued to maintain contact with the groups for the design of the bases of the contests and galas that adapt to the new reality. As Cabello has said on other occasions, “we work so that there are contests and galas, but if the groups cannot get together to rehearse, they make it very difficult for us.”
