Atlético wants to break a bad streak of years, but few confrontations

There is one day to go until the 30th anniversary of Atlético’s last triumph against Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero. At first glance it seems like a long time, but the truth is that in those three decades there were few confrontations, all favorable to those in the neighboring province.

The last time the “Dean” won was on September 15, 1991, when he won the Alfredo Terrera stadium by 1 to 0 with a goal from Daniel Rodríguez Lima, for B Nacional.

A few months later, on February 23, 1992, they would star in a draw at the Monumental José Fierro and, from there, many years would pass to see each other again.

Only in February 2015, after the return of “Ferroviario” to the second division, they faced each other again in what was a draw in Tucumán. In the rematch played in Santiago, the “Dean” won 2 to 0, but ended up losing 3 to 2.

The reunion would take place in 2019, when Central was able to reach the highest category after many years of harrowing performances that included participation in Argentine B. The people of Santiago debuted before their people with a victory with a goal from Nicolás Femia, in an afternoon in the one that Cristian Lucchetti was bothered by the sunlight.

In the last match, Atlético started winning and having good soccer moments on May 25 and Chile, but then he fell asleep and the visit turned it around.

In the afternoon-night of the Madre de Cities stadium, Omar de Felippe’s men will seek to break this bad streak and continue scoring points to get into another international tournament.
