Argentina kicked off their futsal world title defense with an 11-0 win over the United States

The Argentine men’s futsal team, current champion, beat the United States today 11-0 in the 2021 Lithuania World Cup, in the debut for the first date of Group F that also make up Serbia and Iran.

The goals were made by Alan Brandi (4), Maxi Rescia (2), Ángel Claudino (2) Leandro Cuzzolino, Santiago Basile and Cristian Borruto.

The offensive power of the national team proved too much for the Americans, who soon found themselves at a disadvantage and never set foot on the court. Brandi’s goal that opened the scoring after a rebound from the rival goalkeeper was key to providing peace of mind.

In addition, in the same area, Iran won against Serbia by 3 to 2. Meanwhile, for group E these results were recorded: Spain 4-Paraguay 0 and Angola 4-Japan 8

Argentina will play its second game on Friday at 2:00 p.m. against Serbia, one of the European powers, and the third on Monday, 20 at the same time against Iran, the top Asian champion and bronze winner in the last World Cup.

The first two from each of the six zones, added to the four best third-parties, will advance to the final phase scheduled for Wednesday 22. The final will be played on October 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the city of Kaunas.

The FIFA Futsal World Cup has only had 3 winners: Brazil on 5 occasions (Netherlands 1989, Hong Kong 1992, Spain 1996, Brazil 2008, Thailand 2012), Spain on 2 (Guatemala 2000, China-Taipei 2004) and Argentina at 1 (Colombia 2016).
