Tucumán: so far in 2021 more sentences have been handed down than in the last four years

The implementation of the New Criminal Procedure Code (CPPT) in Tucumán shows unavoidable changes. According to a report prepared by the Directorate of Statistics at the request of the Supreme Court of Justice, so far this year the number of final sentences (either convictions or acquittals) reaches 1,323.

The figure is conclusive because it indicates that, between February and August 2021, the same number of resolutions have been issued as in the sum of the same period of the last four years: in effect, adding the sentences of the first semester of 2017 to 2020, the The figure is 1,325, which accounts for the enormous volume of work that has been put in place with the New CPPT, and the streamlining of judicial processes based on the latter system.

The report presents another relevant indicator: the number of convictions issued between February and August 2021 is 1,294, which represents a higher figure than the sum of those issued in the same period between 2017 and 2020, which is 1,212. Both figures (number of resolutions and number of convictions) correspond to data from the three judicial centers, and refer both to the period prior to the implementation of the New Code and to work under the current system.
