Petrobras and Gerdau sign contract to supply gas on the free market

A Petrobras it’s at Gerdau signed a contract for the supply of natural gas in the free market for the steel plant in Ouro Branco, Minas Gerais. According to the state-owned company, the contract is a milestone in the process of opening up the natural gas market in Brazil.

The contract between the two companies is part of the portfolio of new products launched this year by Petrobras, diversifying commercial conditions and enabling better management of the natural gas purchase portfolio.

According to Petrobras, the contract with Gerdau represents the indexation of a mix of products valid until 2025.

The state-owned company also highlighted that the contract provides security of supply for Gerdau. The start of delivery of the input will be on January 1, 2022.

“This partnership with Petrobras crowns Gerdau’s strategy of seeking the development and supply of the gas market in Brazil. In this way, we understand that with the developed market, more players will follow in the same direction and new opportunities will arise,” he said in a statement.
