Demba Ba resigns from the big football stage. The 36-year-old Senegalese announced this on Monday via Twitter.
“With a heart filled with gratitude, I am announcing the end of my playing career. What a wonderful journey it was. Besides all the sweat and tears I shed, football has given me so many beautiful feelings,” said Ba .
“From the passion of the fans and the noise in the stands after every goal to the solidarity with my teammates on and off the field – it will all stay in my head and heart forever,” explains the former center forward.
After terminating his contract with Basaksehir last April, Ba most recently joined FC Lugano, which ended after just a month. The center forward played most of the games between 2007 and 2011 for TSG Hoffenheim (106 games, 40 hits).
The Kraichgauer moved to the Premier League, where he was active for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea. Together with the “Blues” he won the 2012/13 Europa League. After a year and a half, Ba left Chelsea for Turkey, where he worked for Besiktas, among others.
