Soviet and Russian theater and film actress Yekaterina Vasilieva took monastic vows. This was announced by her colleague in the creative workshop Maria Shukshina in her Telegram channel.

“The son of Vasilyeva is a priest in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on Three Mountains. My sincere congratulations, ”added Shukshina in her publication.

Ekaterina Vasilieva was born on August 15, 1945 in Moscow. In 1962, Ekaterina entered VGIK, upon graduation in 1967 she was immediately accepted into the troupe of the Yermolova Theater, in which she served for three years. Later, Vasilyeva moved to work at Sovremennik, on the stage of which she performed until 1973, and then got a job at the Moscow Art Theater, where she played for about 15 years. In 1986 she was awarded the honorary title “People’s Artist of the RSFSR”.

The actress has also starred in over 200 films. Among the most famous tapes are “An Ordinary Miracle”, “Crew”, “Straw Hat”, “Bumbarash” and “Sorcerers”. It is noted that in 1993 Yekaterina Vasilyeva stopped playing and became a novice of the Tolgsky monastery in the Yaroslavl region. In 1996 she returned to the cinema.
