All four aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Russian Defense Ministry with the Russians evacuated from Afghanistan returned to Moscow. TASS reports.
Two more Il-76s landed at the Chkalovsky airport near Moscow. IL-76 and IL-62 have already arrived there. Now the passengers of the planes are going through border control. These are mainly Russians of Afghan origin.
Each of them has medical teams with the necessary equipment and a supply of drugs. There is also a sufficient supply of drinking water, blankets and individual food rations.
The evacuation was organized by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. More than 500 Russians, citizens of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) – Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan – as well as citizens of Uzbekistan and Ukraine were removed from Afghanistan. Earlier it became known that four Russian military aircraft took them from Kabul. Each of the aircraft was provided with medical teams with the necessary equipment and medicines.
On August 24, it became known that the Taliban (the organization is recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation) will ban the evacuation of Afghans and foreign citizens from Afghanistan after August 31. According to the official representative of the movement Zabihullah Mujahid, until that time everyone can leave the country.
