Alexandre Pantoja may not have the belt in his hands, but the Brazilian believes he is above the champion.
The flyweight division contender wants a title shot against newly crowned champion Brandon Moreno, a man he has beaten twice before. Pantoja defeated Brandon Royval by submission in the second round of Saturday’s first main card fight at APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Brazilian hopes to fight Brandon Moreno at the end of the year and is confident he can give him a third loss.
“I am ready to fight. I don’t know if Moreno wants to fight this year or the next. But he and I know I’m coming for the title. He knows my game, I beat him twice. Maybe he’s a little scared because he lost to me by submission. And then when he had a chance to get revenge on me, I destroyed him and it was 30-26. I have proven that I am doing better. ”
Pantoja defeated Moreno in 2018 at an event in Chile and in 2016 at another event as part of The Ultimate Fighter 24.
There are several names at 125 pounds pointing to Moreno for his first defense. But despite the competition, Pantoja is convinced that he will be the next to fight for the belt.
“I’m next for the title, he knows it. He knows I’m much better than when we fought three years ago. I don’t know what you have in mind. But, he knows me and knows my power with my hands, and my struggle. I think I’m the most dangerous guy in the division. “
