This Wednesday, August 11, Gustavo Cerati should turn 62 years old, and to commemorate it the Sony Music label published a unpublished video clip of the song “I don’t believe you” (from the album Always is today), filmed in 2004, around the time of the tour Chosen songs.
In the clip, the musician appears playing in his studio Unison with the band that accompanied him at that time, several musicians who played with him until the last tour of presentation of Natural force: Fernando Nalé on bass, Leandro Fresco and Flavio Etcheto on keyboards, and Pedro Moscuzza on drums.
Nicolas Bernaudo, who joined that tour as an audiovisual designer, proposed to film Gustavo with the group playing and thus have exclusive material to project on the stage screen. So the filmmakers were summoned Diego Panich y Lemon, to take over the management. 17 years later a new edition was worked on. According to Bernaudo, “I made a proposal for all the visuals of the tour and one of the ideas was to make a video with his giant face, synchronized with some of the songs. Cerati countered that I go with the whole band on screen, so I called Panich, who was working with Lemon at the time, and between the two of them they directed the clip, which was filmed in the rehearsal room ”.
Panich recalls that “the only condition that Cerati put was that we had to do it fast, without a great display, so we went with the camera and a couple of lights just. We did very few takes of the song, maybe four. The particularity is that the video is in slow motion and everything has synchro; the trick is that the band played the playback at double speed. It is very difficult and cumbersome to do, but Gustavo and the band were taken with the idea and did everything without drama ”.
Lemon adds that “everything we asked him he took in a second. Had a magic that I will not forget anymore. It was an experience that I am grateful to have had ”.
