The Foreign Minister of Panama, Érika Mouynes, who specified that the Panamanian court now has “60 days to formalize the extradition request.”
The Foreign Ministry of Panama received from the hands of a local court the request for the arrest for the purpose of extradition of two sons of former Panamanian president Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014) and will communicate it to Judicial Branch of Guatemala, a country where both have been imprisoned for more than a year.
This was reported this Tuesday the Foreign Minister of Panama, Érika Mouynes, which specified that the Panamanian court now has “60 days to formalize the extradition request” of Ricardo Alberto and Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares.
“Yesterday afternoon (Monday) we received lnotification of the judge requesting preventive detention with a view to extradition. The Chancellery is the channel through which both jurisdictional authorities and we are going to proceed to give effect to that notification request to the Guatemalan judicial body, “Mouynes told the Panamanian network Telemetro.
He added that the Panamanian judge “You now have 60 days to formalize the extradition request”, which we would also “give a course” by handing it over to the pertinent Guatemalan authorities, added the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama.
