Panama reports today, 523 new positive cases, for a cumulative total of 442,818 and 6 deaths, one of them from previous dates totaling 6,912 accumulated for a fatality rate of 1.6%.
The epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) details that 424,712 patients have recovered and 5,805 were applied today. with a positivity percentage of 9%.
Active cases to date total 11,194. At home, 10,337 and 310 are kept in hotels. There are 547 hospitalized and 442 of them are in the ward and 105 in the ICU.
On the other hand, the Expanded Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that 3,184,408 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been applied in Panama since last January.

This Monday Operation PanavaC-19, led by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, approved to carry out sweeps from the age of 12 in the following circuits: 4-2, 4-4, 4-6, in Chiriquí, at 6-1 in Herrera and 7-2 in Los Santos.
The process through sweep will start this next Wednesday the 11th for 5 days; while in circuits 8-8 (Juan Díaz) and 8-10 (Panama East) will be from 16 years of age and older and 12 with a certified disability or chronic illness.

Panama steps up epidemiological surveillance for the Delta variant
On the other hand, today Monday the minister of the branch Luis Francisco Sucre reported that, before the ddetection of the Delta variant in Chiriquí, genomic sequencing and epidemiological surveillance were strengthened through the Gorgas Memorial Institute (ICG).
“If there is a case, the surest thing is that there must be more and what corresponds to us is to take care of ourselves as much as possible and we are already carrying out the traceability and sweeps, for which 3 families have been detected who have had contact with the Delta variant, which are in quarantine and totally isolated, ”said Sucre, during the inspection tour at the San Fernando Hospital vaccination post.
Sucre stressed that Panama is a transit country, where many tourists and passengers are received; and added that most neighboring countries already have a high percentage of the Delta variant, so the health team has managed to contain the spread of this variant to some extent.
Vaccination against COVID-19 begins in private hospitals
Starting this week, the vaccination process began in 9 private hospitals in the provinces of Panama, Colón and Chiriquí, where it is stipulated to apply between 10,000 to 11,000 doses per week.
Hospital centers that join the strategy of the Operation PanavaC-19 are: San Fernando Hospital Clinic, National Hospital, Santa Fe Hospital, Pacifica Salud, The Panama Clinic, Paitilla Hospital, Brisas Hospital, Caribbean Medical Center, SA, Mae Lewis Medical Center.
