Although Apple is one of the most preferred brands, it has some shortcomings. Spotify, on the other hand, is almost as slow as Google in adopting new iOS features. Now another problem has arisen.

If you have a plan to transfer your Spotify playlists to your HomePods, you’ll have to wait longer. The company announced that the AirPlay system is a bigger project than Spotify developers had anticipated. Unable to see the project’s future yet, the company attributes the blame to “audio driver compatibility issues”.

“It looks like a bigger project that we won’t be able to complete in the foreseeable future,” the company said. Apple introduced AirPlay 2 as part of iOS 11.4 three years ago. The company also rolled out support for third-party music services on the HomePod and HomePod mini last year.

You can still connect Spotify to speakers and smart TVs via AirPlay or Spotify Connect. Users of the app won’t be able to officially use AirPlay 2 features such as reduced lag, multi-room audio and Siri control anytime soon. However, AirPlay is fully integrated with iOS so it will continue to work as long as you use other playback controls instead of the Spotify app.

The number of devices using HarmonyOS is increasing: they have reached 65 devices
