The Interurban train Mexico-Toluca, which is three years late and could be completed until 2024, will cost neither 49,000 nor 90,000 million, but 100 billion pesos, slightly more than double what was estimated when construction began in 2014.

The project, scheduled for July 2018, now has a total planned investment amount of 99.909 billion pesos, reveals a report from the Secretary of Finance.

This figure represents an increase of 100.7%, compared to the 49 thousand 768 million pesos at present value (or 38 thousand million pesos in 2014) that were initially estimated.

The current administration announced that its final value would be 90 billion because the work had delays and changes, but with the update of the record of the amount to 2021, the figure rose to 99 thousand 909 million pesos.

The project has a physical progress of 75.7% and the federal government projects that it will start operations in 2023, but according to estimates from the Fonadin Investment Bank, it will occur until 2024.
