The Austrian Lasselsberger Group has opened a plant for the production of dry building materials in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the official commissioning, while Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was there via video link.
Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the opening of a new plant for the production of dry building materials on August 6th. Since the system is a project of the Austrian Lasselsberger Group, Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz also attended the event via video switch. After a tour of the plant, Putin, the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radi Chabirow and the owner of the Lasselsberger Group, Josef Lasselsberger, pressed a symbolic button to give the go-ahead for production.
The Russian President thanked everyone who had participated in the construction of the CEMIX plant in the republic of Bashkortostan.
“It is important that the company uses advanced technologies and solutions as well as the best international practices. The production process is designed to comply with the highest environmental standards that meet the strictest ecological requirements.”
Putin named Austria one of the key partners in Europe and added that around 1,500 Austrian companies are active in Russia. Putin estimated their total investment at six billion US dollars.

For his part, the Austrian Chancellor was pleased that local quality companies were further deepening the strong economic ties between the EU country and Russia through their committed commitment.
“The Russian market in particular is of particular importance for Austria. After all, Russia is one of Austria’s most important trading partners.”
Kurz also pointed out that the new plant would create new jobs and contribute to the economic recovery after the Corona crisis.
RT DE discussed with Klaus Kralovec, Managing Director of the Lasselsberger Group, the prospects for Russian-Austrian cooperation against the background of the crisis in relations between Russia and the EU. In addition, possible risks in doing business in Russia and the particularities of the Russian investment climate were discussed.
The Lasselsberger Group consists of around 70 plants in over 20 countries around the world. The holding is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ceramic tiles and dry construction materials. The CEMIX plant in the Russian republic of Bashkortostan is a subsidiary of the Lasselsberger Group. It is expected that 240,000 tons of white cement will be produced there annually. The company currently employs 150 people. The workforce is to be expanded to 400 in the future.
