The PSP opened an inquiry to investigate the actions of PSP agents in a situation in which a passenger, who was traveling without a ticket, was kicked in the genitals by a police officer. The incident was captured on video by a passenger in the carriage and has been widely shared on social media.
According to TVI he managed to find out, the 38-year-old man was caught traveling without a ticket on the Azambuja line, in the Lisbon-Azambuja direction. Confronted by the agents of the Comboios de Portugal company, the passenger will have refused to identify himself and leave the train.
In the images captured by one of the passengers, it is possible for the man to talk to one of the agents in a calm tone, explaining that he refuses to leave the carriage. It is at this moment that the agent’s sudden aggression appears, kicking the passenger in the genitals, while ordering him to leave the carriage.
Faced with the man’s attempt to react, the agent used an extendable stick to try to contain him, while the second agent grabbed him and pushed him to the outside of the train.
PSP source confirmed to TVI, that the case happened on the 31st of July, around 07:00 in the morning. The agent’s performance is being evaluated internally.
