Police shot down sniper at the Pentagon. One of the agents was stabbed to death

The suspect of having fired several shots on Tuesday at the subway station that serves the Pentagon was shot down by US security forces. Local authorities also reported the death of a policeman following a stabbing.

The Pentagon, the headquarters of the United States armed forces, has temporarily entered a state of alert and was closed after several shots were fired near the building..

Details of the suspect in the shooting are currently unknown.

A link between shooting and stabbing is still unclear, as local authorities did not advance details about the incident, which took place at the bus station that serves one of the entrances to the Pentagon Transit Center.

The Pentagon has already indicated that it will give more details at a press conference to be held later today.

The Pentagon Protection Force reopened the building and asked people to stay away from the site.

There have yet been no official confirmations of other victims, with local newspaper Arlington Now reporting that “at least three people” were shot, two of them in serious condition. Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene after the shooting, which took place at 10:30 am (5:30 pm in Lisbon)

The platform is used by thousands of Pentagon employees daily, with transportation diverted from the area.

Arlington Now quoted a witness, Dave Statter, who said he heard “at least a dozen shots” and witnessed resuscitation maneuvers on two victims lying on the ground.

The area’s fire department and paramedics, Arlington Fire & EMS, confirmed on Twitter that the team found “multiple patients” in the scene of the incident.
