A covid-19 test ruined a Portuguese family’s holiday in Greece. There were several plans that Brenda and Jaime, 45 and 38 years old, respectively, had with their children Tomás and Diogo, 11 and seven years old, for the days of rest. However, they were eventually separated into two hotel rooms.
The Reis family went from Porto to Athens, to spend ten days on vacation, until the bad news arrived at the Greek airport. Jaime tested positive through a rapid test and the entire family immediately went into isolation. And so they remain since the 31st of July.
Separated by a covid-19 test, the Reis family still does not know the result of a PCR test performed on Jaime while still at the airport, and for this reason decided to resort to an independent laboratory. The PCR test performed by this laboratory was negative.
This family raises several questions that remain unanswered by the Greek health authorities, but also by the Portuguese Embassy in Athens.
The only certainty that Brenda, Jaime, Tomás and Diogo have is that their dream vacation in the Mediterranean has turned into a nightmare.
