Amazon already has a date to land in Cádiz. The giant of online commerce last for September the opening of its first logistics plant in the province of Cadiz, in El Puerto de Santa María. To do this, the preparations for its opening have already begun: the search for personnel. It is estimated that the plant will generate a hundred direct jobs.

As Invertia has learned, the works that began in January have picked up speed and will end before the scheduled date. The announcement of the project was made by the mayor of the city, Germán Beardo, who advanced the details of the Amazon center, which will be located in the Las Salinas industrial estate.

It will occupy a warehouse of almost 12,000 square meters, within a plot of more than 41,217 square meters. The construction of the plant and its authorization will entail an investment of more than six and a half million euros which will translate into direct and indirect jobs for the area.

The facilities also have nine unloading docks for trucks and to accommodate 43 delivery vehicles. To all this will be added a car park for about 500 delivery vans, which will boost business and industrial activity in the town of almost 90,000 inhabitants.

Already in its day the news came like rain in May. The local administration wanted the arrival of Amazon to be the “locomotive of economic activity” in the area with a important employment impact in the punished province. And it is that this is demonstrated by the latest business announcements in the bay of Cádiz.

As an example, the case of Airbus, which announced the official and definitive closure of the Puerto Real plant (Cádiz). To alleviate the situation, the aeronautical giant will unify activities in a only center of excellence in the CBC plant in El Puerto de Santa María. The measure, pointed out then from the company, will maximize employment in other functions of the group in Cádiz.

The town of Cadiz was also a focus of business attraction in the field of spirits. This is the case of his native Osborne winery, which recently chose to move its Anís del Mono bottling plant from Badalona (Barcelona) to El Puerto. The decision was made due to the limitations of the protected building of its Catalan factory.

Amazon in Andalusia

The good rhythm of Amazon in Cádiz does not resemble other centers of the group in Andalusia, specifically in Malaga. According to EL ESPAÑOL from Malaga, the processing times for the construction project of a large distribution center are at a standstill for the moment.

Montepino, the company promoting the works, advanced that the operation valued at 80 million euros it was stagnant. The project will occupy 16,378 square meters for warehouses and 2,086 meters for offices. It will also have 60,000 square meters of land for parking and green areas.

In the future, this center will concentrate Amazon’s activity in Malaga, as the Seville logistics station already does. Both floors will complement the work of the latest Amazon Robotics fulfillment center open in Andalusia, specifically in the Sevillian town of Dos Hermanas. The online commerce giant plans to create more than a thousand permanent jobs by 2023 in Andalusia.
