Yet, years later, Françoise Dorléac’s sister confessed that she did not understand her decision to get married so quickly: “I am unable to explain what took hold of me when I married photographer David Bailey in London in 1965”, confided the Demoiselle de Rochefort in 1976 in The Illustrated Evening : “I did not delay, it is true, in asking for a divorce. But this marriage, why? It was not a ‘gag’, as I heard it said: I had consented to it and, therefore, thought well, first.
