Durango.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador maintained that the only way for the National Guard (GN) does not become a “second-rate police” is that it is integrated into the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

He pointed out that if the GN joins the Mexican Army, it will be able to ensure that the agency has the benefits of the law, as well as good salaries.

At the inauguration of a new headquarters of said corporation in Tamazula, Durango, the head of the Federal Executive Power emphasized that the decision that has been reaping for a few months will guarantee that the National Guard “remains in time.”

In this sense, he considered that it is essential that the elements of this body have salaries and benefits like those of the members of the Sedena or the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), so that it avoids being a “second-rate police”.

At the event, the governor of the state of Durango, Jose Rosas Aispuro, pledged to promote the initiative of President López Obrador to integrate the GN into the Sedena by establishing a dialogue with the federal legislators of the Mexican Republic and not only with those of his state.
