Samsung responded to a possible ban on payment services in Russia

The South Korean company Samsung reacted to a possible ban on the Samsung Pay payment service in Russia after the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court. The company RIA Novosti said that they are currently studying the documents, but so far no changes are planned in the work.

“At the moment we are studying the received documents, no changes in the operational activities of Samsung are currently planned,” – commented a spokesman for the company.

Earlier, the Kommersant newspaper reported about the threat to the payment service. The publication referred to the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court, which upheld the claims of Squin SA (patent owner), which accuses Samsung Electronics Rus Company and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. in the illegal use of electronic payment system technology.

The court concluded that Samsung Pay uses the technologies of the Squin SA patent, and prohibited Samsung “from using products that include Samsung Rau, namely, an offer to sell, or another introduction into civil circulation in the Russian Federation”.

The court decision can be appealed within a month.
