A 40-year-old pregnant woman who was admitted to the Cartagena ICU with Covid-19 dies after a cesarean section

A 40-year-old woman with Covid-19 who was induced into labor two weeks ago died this Tuesday morning at 8.30 am in Cartagena. The pregnant woman, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital (Murcia), had since been connected to a blood and lung oxygenation machine.

The deceased, who already had previous pathologies, was one of the two pregnant who remained admitted to the ICUs of the Region of Murcia for two positive for coronavirus, both with induced deliveries. As with all pregnant women, their risk of more severe symptoms skyrocketed when they learned they were about to give birth.

The baby of the deceased, who gave positive at birth, remains admitted to the Hospital Santa Lucía de Cartagena.
