They requested understanding and respect, while reporting that the funeral it will be done privately.

“Joey’s family has asked that friends, fans and the media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time; lhe family will hold a private funeral and asks the media and the public to respect his wishes. “

Jordison formed Slipknot in 1995 in Iowa, with the help of Shawn Crahan, the percussionist, and Paul Gray, the drummer.

In 2013, the group reported that Joey Jordison and the band were “parting ways” after almost two decades together, however, some time later, the drummer said he was fired.

In 2016, he revealed that his departure from the band coincided with his suffering from mielitis transversa, at the same time that he assured that his colleagues confused his illness with substance abuse.

In their statement, the family did not clarify whether said suffering had to do with his death.

Although he was part of Slipknot, Jordison created the band in 2013 Scar the Martyr and before his death he played with Sinsaenum.
