Direct | The incidence slows its escalation: it remains at 701 and Spain registers 26,399 new infections and 55 deaths

Spain slows down the cumulative incidence per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, which remains in 701 cases, almost two points more than the previous day. As for infections, the autonomous communities have notified 26,399 new cases of coronavirus infection this Tuesday. This figure represents a slight drop compared to Tuesday of the previous week —27,286—. On the other hand, Health notifies 55 deaths in the last 24 hours.

In addition, a few days to the beginning of August, infections and hospital pressure continues to rise in some territories such as Catalonia, 2,237 admitted, Andalusia, with 1,125, or Galicia, which has tripled those hospitalized for covid-19. This week is expected to be key for the evolution of this fifth wave.

Outside of Spain, what is happening in the United Kingdom is striking, where infections have dropped 40% less in a week after the removal of almost all restrictions. This is the first time since the pandemic broke out that the number of cases has decreased without being the consequence of confinement.
