Mexico.- The owner of thea Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Santiago Nieto assured that although the crimes committed by the former presidents are already prescribed, participating in the popular consultation will help clarify many of the facts committed by the former presidents.
It was through his Twitter account that the official called on the population to participate in the consultation on August 1.
“Many of the crimes that the former presidents would have committed are prescribed. Therefore, the consultation seeks to clarify the facts of the past. A clear mandate for a truth consultation on corruption issues in Mexico.”

He also added in another publication that citizens must exercise their right to promote democracy; “August 1. Popular Consultation. We must exercise our rights. Promote direct democracy as a complement to representative democracy.”
It should be remembered that like Santiago Nieto, the INE clarified that this next democratic exercise does not mean that the former presidents will be prosecuted, so it asked not to confuse the intention of the consultation.
“Do you agree or not that the pertinent actions be carried out in accordance with the constitutional and legal framework, to undertake a process of clarification of the political decisions made in recent years by political actors, aimed at guaranteeing justice and the rights of possible victims? ”.
“Hopefully people are not confused, because what they are going to find on election day is that question, not another,” said the presiding counselor, Lorenzo Córdova.
