In its debut in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Gustavo Tsuboi won Ovidiu Ionescu, yes Romania, for 4 to 1 (11/6, 9/11, 13/11, 11/9 and 11/9) and guaranteed the classification for Round 3 of the Table tennis male individual.
