How will Christian Eriksen’s career continue?
According to Fabrizio Braconaro, member of the scientific commission at the Italian federation FIGC, the Danish international after his cardiac arrest during the European Championships is under no circumstances allowed to continue at Inter Milan or any other Italian club. Granting a game permit for a professional with a defibrillator used is not possible in Italy.
The 29-year-old Eriksen had collapsed in the first Danish European Championship game against Finland (0-1) and had to be revived on the pitch. During an operation, he was implanted with a subcutaneous defibrillator that detects arrhythmias and, in an emergency, counter-shocked him.
Eriksen’s contract with Inter runs until 2024. The midfielder has not yet commented on a possible continuation of his professional career.
