Vienna – Thursday, July 22nd, 2021, 3:55 p.m.

The ex-captain of Vienna Austria announced that Michael Madl would have to end his professional career in the summer in the final phase of the 2020/21 season. The knee problems in the 33-year-old were too severe – it was impossible to continue.

Now it is clear how things will go on for Madl after 411 assignments at professional level. With “his” Austria, of course. The graduate of the Austria Akademie is returning to his roots and will act as co-trainer of the AKA-U18 team of the “Veilchen” in the coming season. He completed his B license in March.

Madl was on the pitch in the Bundesliga for Wiener Austria, Sturm Graz, Wiener Neustadt and Wacker Innsbruck. He also played in England for Fulham FC. For the ÖFB national team there is a mission (2016 against Slovakia).
