The President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen started the program “Recovering My Neighborhood” in the city of Colón, which includes an investment of B / .19.3 million for the rehabilitation of 65 multifamily, while announcing that, before the end of the year, the construction of works that were abandoned in past administrations, such as the four hospitals awarded to the IBT company, including Manuel Amador Guerrero and Ciudad de la Salud.
In a ceremony held in the dome of the Paseo Marino, the president delivered four orders to proceed for the rehabilitation, maintenance and improvements in 23 buildings in the district of Barrio Norte and 42 in Cristóbal Este (sector of the Fair). “The idea is to be able to live with dignity, create employment in the neighborhoods, improve the environment of the city of Colón,” said the president.
He specified that the program “Recovering My Neighborhood”, that is part of the Economic Reactivation Plan, includes for the city of Colón an investment of B / .6 million in Barrio Norte and B / .13 million in the Fair sector, as well as the generation of 13,940 direct jobs for the colonists.
He emphasized that this program includes a training component so that neighborhood youth can be recruited and asked the community to organize to give continuity to the maintenance of each building.

Likewise, he announced that tomorrow at the Cabinet Council will present a proposal for the reactivation of the City of Health, a work that began in 2012. He said that a consortium formed by three Panamanian companies the project would finish.
“We are advancing the negotiation with IBT to restart the work of the four abandoned hospitals, including the Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colón. They are knots, they are challenges that we find in this administration that has only been 24 months, 17 of them in pandemic“Said the president.
Hospital and works in Colón will reactivate
The president announced that before the end of the year the construction of 74 works will be restarted in the Old Quarter of the City of Colón and instructed the governor of this province, Iracema de Dale, to form a work table that includes the Ministers of Health and Housing, to follow up on the execution of projects, both in Casco and Costa Arriba and Costa Abajo.
He indicated that, despite the pandemic, the Government executes different projects in Colón, such as Altos de Los Lagos, where 18 towers have been built and 32 are in the foundation phase, for an investment of B / .111 million. He also highlighted the progress of the construction of the Los Lagos educational center, of the road to Miguel de La Borda, on the Costa Abajo; the rehabilitation of the road to the Fort of San Lorenzo and the old Customs in Portobelo.
He announced that in a week the hiring of the company that will be in charge of the construction of the Fine Arts Center in the old Abel Bravo School could be concluded.
He stressed that his administration will resume other works that were abandoned and with legal problems in the province, such as the Mariano Bula Stadium, whose construction should have begun in November 2017; the Jaime Vélez Stadium and the stands of the Armando Dely Valdés Stadium.
“At the beginning of my administration, I made a commitment to create 1,700 jobs and I am going to do so ”, he assured.
He asked the colonists not to forget how other administrations disrespected them and tried to buy leaders with bags of food. “My administration respects all leaders, regardless of the political party to which they belong.”
