The fire declared this Friday in the Cap de Creus natural park has devastated 410 hectares, while 350 are evacuated between the municipalities of Llan and Port de la Selva, as explained by those responsible for the emergency device. At first it was believed that it had already calcined more than 500 hectares, but by improving visibility, forest agents have reduced the forecast of affected hectares.

In addition, the fire has left 326 subscribers in Port de la Selva and Llan without electricity.

With the sunrise, the air media began to work again, but during the night the fire remained active and opened on its right flank.

The head of Firefighters of the Generalitat in Girona, Jordi Martn, explained that the priority objective now is prevent the fire from advancing and a thousand hectares are burned.

Of the 350 evacuees, 231 people have been received in facilities of the Port de la Selva town hall, others in those of LLan and some who have chosen to go to the homes of family or friends. And, in addition, the residents of the population centers of Selva de Mar, Fener de Dalt, Mas d’Estel and Mas Fumats have been confined.

The evictions, after those of the Vall de Santa Creu, Beleser and Santa Isabel urbanizations of yesterday, they have been extended tonight to the first line of houses of those of Mora Dos, Perebeua and Barlovent, as well as a mass and 120 clients of the camping Port de la Vall.

Martin has detailed what is expected this morning the tramuntana, the temperature and the low humidity are reinforced, and has explained that the tail of the fire is in Llan, the right flank in the area of the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and the left in that of Peralada, which is where there is more presence of buildings, while the head goes down the valley of Santa Creu.

FIVE SLIGHTLY INJURED

At the moment there are five minor injuries among the emergency teams, with four firefighters and a forester affected.

Jordi Martn has pointed out that with the air media, after the forced stop of the night, there will be an “opportunity” to stop the fire, and the General Director of Fire Prevention and Extinction and Rescue of the Generalitat, Joan Delort, has specified that the Government of Spain has been requested to authorize France’s participation in the extinction.

For now there are 15 airplanes, but military aircraft have been requested, such as the two that were already incorporated this Friday from Zaragoza, waiting for the arrival of French people who, according to Delort, “are on the other side from the mountain “.

Some 90 ground crews are also part of the device at this time and traffic continues to be restricted in the area.

ONE BUTT, POSSIBLE CAUSING

The Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, visited the command center that runs the action unit this Saturday and reiterated that the main hypothesis is that a cigarette butt thrown from a vehicle will cause the fire. In this sense, he has emphasized that it is “outrageous” that almost 500 hectares have already been burned due to an error of this type.

In fact, agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra scientific unit are already analyzing the cigarette butt that possibly originated the fire in search of DNA remains to identify the person who could have done it.

In case of finding genetic remains, they will be compared with those of people registered in police databases.

“We will try to detect who is responsible,” he stressed. In addition, it has specified that the extinction work is currently concentrated in the Selva de Mar core, where the head of the fire is advancing.

Elena has made a “call for prudence”, recalled that the current climate is complicated in this area and has appealed to the self-protection of citizens as the only way to control this situation of low humidity, wind and high temperatures.
