The Senate approved the DNU to acquire pediatric vaccines against Covid

The Senate approved this Thursday the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) signed by President Alberto Fernández to acquire pediatric vaccines against Covid-19 to North American laboratories.

The vote yielded 39 affirmative votes and 23 negative, to sign the DNU signed by President Alberto Fernández to modify the vaccine law that Congress voted last year.

The national senator of the Frente de Todos for the City Mariano Recalde rejected the criticisms of the opposition that indicated that the National Government did not agree to purchase vaccines from laboratories such as Pzifer due to a question of “ideology.”

In this regard, he pointed to Together for Change and underlined: “They have the ideology of ´Sálvese who can´, let the one who has to die die and we don’t.” In addition, the Buenos Aires senator criticized those who “are tempted to use this politically.”

For his part, the holder of the Juntos por el Cambio interblock, Luis Naidenoff, advanced his vote against and questioned the delay of the Government in unlocking the arrival of vaccines suitable for those under 18 years of age.

“The country needs vaccines, without ideologies,” remarked the radical from Formosa. During the discussion at the venue, Naidenoff recalled: “At the beginning of the pandemic we accompanied the measures, but from July 2020 to now the common denominator was the dark clouds.”

The Senate met to discuss a varied agenda, which includes modifications to the monotax, the new biofuels regime, the DNU for vaccines and the medical cannabis law.

The session began with requests for preference and questions of privilege, and it is expected to be a long debate, since it is a broad agenda.

Senators from Together for Change, such as Guadalupe Tagliaterri and Pablo Blanco, questioned the position of the National Government on Cuba and supported the protests against President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

“Why the attitude that it has with Venezuela, with Cuba, with Nicaragua, and it does not have the support with the people of those countries,” Blanco questioned.
