An independent expert questions the version of the Georgian Interior Ministry about the causes of death of the operator

It is almost impossible to establish the cause of death in such a short time, therefore the presented version was announced not by a professional, but by an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, explains Vakhtang Kaloiani

TBILISI, 14 Jul – Sputnik. It is impossible to make a conclusion about the reasons for the death of someone, in this case the cameraman Lekso Lashkarava, in such a short time, the independent medical expert Vakhtang Kaloiani believes.

As the expert stated on TV “Pirveli”, it is also doubtful that the preliminary conclusion of the forensic medical examination was presented to the public not by a competent person, but by an official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“In this conclusion, you can find several strange and doubtful points. First, it is time. It is unthinkable from the point of view of expertise to make any conclusion in such a short time. Medical experts would not have had time to come to an intermediate first conclusion, to the first discussion … professional reasoning in such a short time is unthinkable, “Kaloiani said.

And the fact that the preliminary conclusion of the examination was announced not by an expert, but by an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kaloiani explained by the fact that not a single professional would give himself the right to make hasty conclusions.

According to Kaloiani, doubts are also raised by the video released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where Lekso Lashkarava allegedly first searches and then buys drugs.

“I would like to emphasize that this is a staged scenario of the government. Suppose the customer was a young man, all clients know that the clinic is not obliged to inform the police during intoxication, all experienced or less experienced clients know this,” the expert said.

Lekso Lashkarava, cameraman for the Pirveli TV company, died on July 11 on the sixth day after being severely beaten by LGBT opponents. The exact cause of death will become known only after the completion of the examination, however, based on the preliminary data of the chemical analysis, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs does not exclude an overdose of narcotic drugs.

Lashkarav’s death caused a public outcry, as the operator of “TV Pirveli” shortly before his death – on July 5, became a victim of an attack by LGBT opponents when filming the events. In total, 53 media representatives were injured that day.

After his death, journalists from opposition TV channels protested and demanded the resignation of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. They claim that Lashkarava died from his injuries during the riots.

In response, Garibashvili accused TV channels and the opposition of speculating on Lashkarav’s death, urging to wait for the final results of the examination.

The Georgian Interior Ministry has already detained five people for the attack on Lashkarav, now they are awaiting a verdict in prison.
