When ViacomCBS announced the restructuring of its streaming strategy with Paramount +, it did so with The Offer as one of its flagship projects. It was not for less, because this ambitious series tell the story of how the movie was made The Godfather. Now that it has officially entered production, it is a good time to go over all the details about one of the most interesting proposals that is currently in development in the United States.
‘The Offer’ will show behind the scenes of ‘The Godfather’
Based on the experiences of Albert S. Ruddy, the Oscar-winning producer for The Godfather, this series will show all the ins and outs of production of one of the magnificent works in the history of cinema, since Paramount acquired the rights to Mario Puzzo’s novel, and all the difficulties they encountered in getting this film out, because in 1970 no one was betting on the success of this project.
From Francis Ford Coppola to Marlon Brando, a cast that will play real figures
Miles Teller (Whiplash) will be in charge of playing Ruddy and June Temple (Ted Lasso) to Bettye McCartt, her assistant. Dan Fogler has been chosen to give life to director Francis Ford Coppola and Justin Chambers (Grey’s Anatomy) to actor Marlon Brando.
They are also confirmed in the cast Frank John Hughes like Frank Sinatra and Anthony Skordi and Michael Rispoll as bosses of the Italian mafia. Next to them will be Matthew Goode like Robert Evans, Patrick gallo as Mario Puzo, Meredith Garretson like Ali MacGraw, Burn Gorman in the role of Charles Bluhdorn and Colin Hanks como Barry Lapidus.

The technical team
The miniseries will have ten episodes written by Nikki Toscano, cocreadora de Hunters, which will act as showrunner, next to Michael Tolkin (The Player). Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) will be one of the directors.
It is not the only project underway about ‘The Godfather’
In addition to this miniseries, there is also a movie in the works that will feature some of the same events. Francis and The Godfather is a Barry Levinson project will star Oscar Isaac and Jake Gyllenhaal, who will play Francis Ford Coppola and Robert Evans, a top Paramount executive. It is also confirmed in the cast Elisabeth Moss, in the role of Eleanor Coppola.
