The PS made this Tuesday a “very positive” balance of the execution of the first half of the State Budget for 2021, highlighting the reinforcement of the National Health Service (SNS) and support for job maintenance.
“This State Budget was presented and approved with the motto of sparing no efforts in the fight for public health and also in supporting families and businesses”, said the vice president of the PS parliamentary group João Paulo Correia, in statements to journalists at the end of a meeting with the Government in parliament.
For the socialist deputy, the Government has managed to fulfill these goals, noting that investment in the SNS “increased 7.2%” in the first half, allowing for the hiring of over 2,500 workers.
And the 2021 goal of over 4,200 professionals in the NHS will be a reality by the end of this year”, he stated.
On the other hand, João Paulo Correia pointed out that “3,250 million euros have already been mobilized in support of families and companies” and highlighted that the unemployment figures have been guided by “a certain stability”, contrary to “the most pessimistic forecasts”.
“The measures that the Government has been mobilizing have been decisive in preserving employment, maintaining jobs, and have been essential for us to be experiencing a moment of economic recovery above the best expectations for 2021”, he defended
The Government met throughout the day with the parties and non-registered deputies who made the 2021 State Budget (OE) feasible, with the objective of taking stock of the budget execution for the first semester.
The Government delegation was made up of the Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Duarte Cordeiro, the Deputy Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs, António Mendonça Mendes, and the Secretary of State for Budget, Cláudia Joaquim.
