TBILISI, 13 Jul – Sputnik. Within the framework of the international project “Development of sustainable tourism in Tusheti” in the east of Georgia, 600 thousand lari were invested in the highland region.

The final presentation of the project “Development of sustainable tourism in Tusheti” took place at the Expo Georgia exhibition center. The total amount of investments in Tusheti was 600 thousand lari. As a result of this project, 45 new jobs were created in Tusheti and over 100 in Akhmeta municipality.

“Tusheti has taken a very worthy place among both foreign and Georgian tourists. A lot of people go there, watch. All this contributed to the production, sale and sale of products. Today’s event is dedicated to discussing the results of the USAID project. It will be important to share a vision of what is needed to do in the future, “- said the deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture Gela Khanishvili on the air of the First Channel.

The national park, founded in 2003, is the largest on the territory of Georgia. It includes landscape and nature reserves. The total area of ​​the territory is over 122 thousand hectares.

The nature of Tusheti is very diverse, up to 1,062 plant species can be found here. Pine trees grow here at an altitude of 700-2000 meters above sea level. And already at an altitude of 1700-2400 meters birch forests are spread. Birch Radde and black birches are included in the “Red List” of Georgia.

On the territory of the park, according to unspecified data, there are 60 species of mammals, up to 120 species of birds, three species of reptiles, six species of amphibians and one species of fish. In the forests of Tusheti there are roe deer, less often deer. Wild boars often cross from the territory of neighboring Dagestan to Tusheti.

There are a lot of predators in the forests of Tusheti – you can find a fox and a wolf almost everywhere. Tusheti is inhabited by brown bears, lynx, hares, ibex and chamois. The rivers are teeming with trout.

There are 11 routes in the protected areas of Tusheti, thanks to which tourists can join the unique historical and cultural heritage of Tusheti, as well as enjoy its natural landscapes.
